OK, soooo.....the idea behind this blog is an exercise in getting my writing juices flowing. Basically it works like this: I pick a book at random, either from the large stack on my night table, or from my shelf, and then pick a page at random. My finger points on one word, and then I create a short fictional or non-fictional based on or including the word I selected. I then do a Google search and upload the first image which is in the results for the word I selected. Got it? Simple, yes. But has a creative writing major, determined to be a world famous author by age 30, I need this incentive, initiative...insert inspirational yet obligatory word here.
WIGGLED
The worm wiggled in desperation, trying to avoid the sharp tip of spade which was chasing him. He manically burrowed deeper and deeper into the turgid earth, rich with nutrients from the night rain. A pink, translucent, without a brain or any real sensory or emotional capacities, this little creature knew one thing: he was being hunted. Sought after. For a reason he was unaware of. Yet despite his valiant efforts, the trowel managed to scoop him up, along with a handful of dirt, no soil. And, along with a heap of slender salmon-colored threads, he was tossed into a bucket. Bait for tomorrow's trout fishing.

From Charlaine Harris', "Dead Until Dark." The word, that is.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled that you are doing this and will be a loyal follower ! Just love the idea. In fact, I wish I had the time to do it along with you and do a visual to your fiction. Well, I will do it in my head at least. In a half dozen sentences you have created so much- the hunt, the chase, the capture and the visual of the future ! most excellent !!
ReplyDeleteYEAH MUNI!! This is awesome. What a creative idea. Looking forward to future installments! Oh this is Sandea.
